Anxiety vs Intuition: How to Tell the Difference



This is one of the most common questions I hear: “How do I know if it’s my intuition… or just anxiety?”


They feel similar, but they are not the same.

Anxiety feels like:

  • urgency

  • panic

  • catastrophising

  • “I have to fix this right now”

  • tightness in the chest/stomach

  • mistrust


Intuition feels like:

  • quiet knowing

  • gentle nudges

  • steady awareness

  • “This doesn’t feel right” or “This feels right”

  • no panic, just clarity


Anxiety makes your world smaller. Intuition helps you move forward.


Why They Get Mixed Up


When your nervous system is dysregulated, your body stays in a perpetual state of alertness.

This makes it hard to distinguish between:

  • genuine signals

  • false alarms
